Feel At Ease
At Smile Artisans, we prioritize patient comfort through our commitment to modern technology, a friendly office space, and kind, personalized care during every step of the treatment process. However, Dr. Gutierrez and the rest of our team also understand that some patients suffer from a severe fear of dentistry that can’t be cured through these efforts alone. That’s why our Cypress office provides multiple sedation dentistry techniques that can ease nerves and help patients achieve true relaxation. Please contact us today if you’d like to arrange sedation dentistry for your next visit.
Oral Conscious Sedation
When choosing oral conscious sedation, patients can expect to be provided with a prescription for medication, as well as detailed instructions on when to take that medication before their procedure is set to begin. A trusted friend or family member will need to both bring you to our location and take you home afterwards because you will be incapable of driving yourself while experiencing the sedative’s effects. You should feel deeply relaxed while still remaining aware enough to hear any questions or requests.
IV sedation is administered intravenously in our office, which allows our team to closely monitor your reactions and adjust the dose as needed for maximum comfort. Once the effects take hold, the patient will remain technically conscious but extremely calm and at ease to the point that they likely won’t remember anything about the appointment after it’s finished. You will need to arrange for someone to drive you home following your procedure and keep an eye on you until you’ve fully recovered.

Jawbone deterioration is a serious consequence of natural tooth loss, and one that becomes more and more pronounced over time. As a result, patients who wait to pursue implant replacement may find that their mouth no longer has the healthy bone density needed to support them. As a worthwhile alternative, Dr. Gutierrez can use mini dental implants instead. Mini dental implants are small enough that virtually all patients can receive them successfully, and they can be used to anchor a custom-made denture in place that should serve patients well over the years. After confirming that you’re a solid candidate for dental implants, the first major step of the procedure is to insert your tooth’s new ‘root’ (the implant itself) into the jawbone. While countless other dental practices in our area have to refer their patients to separate specialists for this surgical process, we have the experience and the advanced training needed to perform it here in our office.
